Hours & Cost

The Conservatory is open Tuesdays - Sundays, 10am - 6pm 

Mondays: Closed on Mondays, except for Memorial Day and Labor Day.

Sundays: Please note that on Sundays and all major holidays, Golden Gate Park closes many of its roads to all vehicle traffic. The FREE Golden Gate Park Shuttle Bus is available on these days.


The Conservatory is OPEN on Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day.

The Conservatory is CLOSED on Thanksgiving, December 25, and January 1, and we close at 1:30pm on December 24.

$8.00 for Adults
$6.00 for Youth ages 12-17, Seniors age 65 & over, and College Students with ID
$2.00 for Children ages 5-11
Free for Children ages 4 and under

Free Every First Tuesday!

The Conservatory is free to all visitors on the first Tuesday of every month. Groups are not permitted on free days. Visit the Group Reservation page to schedule a group visit.

Directions & Parking

Accessibility information

Inside the Conservatory: The Conservatory of Flowers is wheelchair accessible for both motorized and non-motorized chairs. We also have two non-motorized wheelchairs in the ticket booth, which visitors may use (*at their own risk) on a first-come, first-served basis. 


Parking: Accessible parking is located at the east side of the building and also on John F. Kennedy Drive in front of the Conservatory. Drop-off ramp access to the Conservatory is available on the west side of the building near the public restrooms. Strollers are not allowed in the Conservatory.

On Sundays, the roads around the Conservatory are closed to vehicular traffic. No driving or parking is allowed on Sundays. Visitors may take the FREE Golden Gate Park Shuttle Bus, which runs every 15-20 minutes during park hours. (We are stop number 3 on the shuttle route map.)

Public transportation:
The number 5 Muni bus stops closest to our location. Get off at the 8th Avenue & Fulton stop. The safest entrance into the park with accessible pathways is right there at 8th Avenue. After entering the park at 8th Ave, make a left onto John F. Kennedy Drive and continue on to the Conservatory, which you will soon see on your left.


Guidelines for visiting the Conservatory

  • Food and drink are not allowed inside.
  • Strollers are not allowed inside, and may be parked outside the Conservatory on the grass.
  • Pets and outside plants are not allowed inside. (Service animals are okay).
  • Tripods are not allowed inside. (Permits are required for commercial/ professional and school photography).
  • Please close the doors between exhibit galleries.
  • Please keep cell phone conversations to a minimum.
  • Temperatures may exceed 85 degrees (29C).



The Conservatory of Flowers is pleased to offer this unique venue for photo opportunities. All fees generated from your shoot support the collections, educational programs and the operations of the Conservatory of Flowers. We appreciate your support of this landmark facility.

  • Wedding, engagement or professional photography is not permitted without a permit.
  • Permitted photographers and their equipment must not impede access and must stay on pathways at all times. Walking in planted areas, behind planting beds or placing equipment in beds is prohibited.
  • Plants may not be moved, cut, rearranged or handled in any way.
  • Flow of visitors along walkways must not be impeded. Photographers are asked to be aware that narrow pathways and intersections may become bottlenecks during periods of increased visitation.


Permits are also required to shoot on the property immediately surrounding the Conservatory (The Palm Terrace).  For more information or to obtain a photo permit email
