Event Rental Information at the Conservatory of Flowers

The Conservatory of Flowers is pleased to offer evening rentals for a wide range of events. Whether you’re booking a corporate event, hosting a cocktail party for friends, or planning your wedding or 25th anniversary party, our site is by far one of the most unique in the Bay Area. This historic facility located in Golden Gate Park boasts five exhibit spaces with exotic plants and flowers from all over the world. Each exhibit gallery showcases unique plants and flowers as well as pots from all over the world, custom metal work, and architectural beauty throughout the building. Our Special Exhibit space changes twice a year and provides visitors with educational and worldly plant/flower features.

All rentals include full guest access to all exhibit spaces, the new Orchid Gallery event space, Conservatory staff on site, and docents upon request. We assist with coordinating your event and provide a list of our preferred caterers and vendors to make your event a lifelong memory.

The following information is an overview of our facility rental options. Other pricing may be applicable depending on the size of your event and the time of year it is held. Please note: All event rentals are held after 5 p.m.

As each event varies in scope (time of year, number of guests, day of the week, etc) please email us to receive an exact quote for your event. In many instances, the prices will be lower than those listed here.

Private after hour tour (up to 12 people)

The Conservatory offers private after hour tours for up to 12 people. These intimate events are a unique way to celebrate an anniversary, entertain guests, surprise out of town relatives, or just enjoy an evening with good friends. Tour package includes: two and a half hour in-depth tour of the Conservatory, champagne/wine, hors d oeuvres, and a rare after hours evening at the Conservatory. Tours are available Tuesday – Friday after 5 p.m. at the following rates: Docent $1,000 | Curator $1,200 | Director $1,500

Wedding ceremony (50 people or less)

Held in our Potted Plants exhibit space, this intimate room features a wide variety of Orchids, Hibiscus, and other flowering plants. It also has a variety of beautiful pots from countries all over the world. Stunning photo opportunities throughout.
Rental period of one and a half hours | Fee: $2,500

Wedding ceremony (50 people or more)
Weddings can be held on the lawn directly in front of the Conservatory or in the Orchid Gallery. You may also select the asphalt area in front of the building at the top of the stairs. Weddings can be tented or open air. Guests have full access to the inside of the Conservatory before and after your ceremony. One hour rehearsal the evening before is included.
Rental period of two hours | Fee: $3,500

Wedding ceremony and reception (up to 150 people seated reception or 250 cocktail party)
Wedding receptions are held on the lawn or the platform directly in front of the Conservatory. All events include the new Orchid Gallery which accommodates 150 – 250 people. One hour rehearsal the evening before is included. The caterer provides beverages, linens, tables, chairs, and supplies. Guests have access to all exhibit spaces throughout the evening. Wedding photos can be taken throughout the facility as well as gorgeous locations in Golden Gate Park.
Rental period of six hours | Fee: $6,500 - $8,900

Corporate rental and Private Parties (up to 500 people)


Events can be held on the lawn directly in front of the Conservatory, in the new Orchid Gallery event space, on the platform, or in the exhibit galleries. Price includes Conservatory staff, event coordination, docents, and access to all galleries. The caterer provides beverages, linens, tables, chairs, and supplies. Guests have access to all exhibit spaces throughout the evening. Conservatory staff is provided and can check in quests, assist with distribution of information/products.
Rental period up to six hours | Fee: $3,500 - $10,000 | Events over 250 may incur tenting fees

School Groups
All school groups can make a reservation for a self-guided visit Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 12 noon.

3rd and 4th grade classes can make a reservation for a guided tour Tuesday through Thursday at 10 a.m. For more information about guided tours, visit our education page.

All San Francisco public and private school groups have free admission to the Conservatory with advance reservations. Fees for school groups outside San Francisco city limits are as follows: Students 12 - 17 $3.00, University/College Students $3.00, Youth 5 - 11 $1.50, 4 and under free.

Note: All school groups must have a 1:8 ratio of staff or chaperone/student.

Group Visits
Groups are welcome to visit the Conservatory of Flowers Tuesday through Saturday. We recommend booking your reservation between 9 am and noon. Currently, we do not have guided tours. Admission cost is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for seniors 65 and over. There are no group discounts.

To make a reservation, send your email with subject list "Reservation Request" and include the following information: group name, contact name and phone number, date of trip, time, # of people in group. We will check availability and email a confirmation. If your group is smaller than 20, you will not need a reservation. Please note: Groups larger than 20 who do not pre-book may encounter entry lines. We do not recommend group visits on Sunday as the east end of Golden Gate Park is closed to vehicle traffic.
