Purchase tickets HERE. ($75 for Conservatory members, $100 General Admission)
*This is a 21+ event; 6-7pm greenhouse walk-through limited to 20 people. Join us for an intimate, romantic walk through the Conservatory of Flowers, as Amy Stewart points out roots, leaves, stems, fruits and flowers along the way that may be used to make intoxicating and delicious beverages. In celebration of her latest book, The Drunken Botanist, we invite you to this exclusive nighttime Conservatory tour led by Amy herself from 6 to 7pm.
You will be greeted upon entry with a botanical cocktail expertly created by Amanda Victoria of Lillet and Mark Stoddard of Hendrick's Gin. Sip your cocktail as you stroll through the steamy, lush greenhouse with Amy from 6 to 7pm. The intimate greenhouse botanical tour will be followed by a larger event from 7 to 9pm, with more botanical cocktails, tips for creating your own "cocktail garden," and a reading and book signing with Amy.
Learn about the nationwide resurgence in using plants to make tinctures and bitters, sangrias and herbal concoctions of all varieties, and chart your own course for becoming a mad botanical scientist behind the bar!
About The Drunken Botanist (Algonquin Books, 2013):
Sake began with a grain of rice. Scotch emerged from barley, tequila from agave, rum from sugarcane, bourbon from corn. Thirsty yet? In The Drunken Botanist, Amy Stewart explores the dizzying array of herbs, flowers, trees, fruits, and fungi that humans have, through ingenuity, inspiration, and sheer desperation, contrived to transform into alcohol.
This fascinating concoction of biology, chemistry, history, etymology, and mixology–with more than fifty drink recipes and growing tips for gardeners–will make you the most popular guest at any cocktail party.
Check out these botanical drink recipes created by Amy, to get in the mood for this very special evening. Don't miss this chance to meet one of our favorite authors and botanists!
This event is sponsored by Lillet and Hendricks.
