For more information about making a gift to Conservatory of Flowers, please contact our Development Director, Jane Scurich, via e-mail or phone @ 415.595.6950. Dear Friend: Since reopening in 2003, the Conservatory of Flowers has become one of San Francisco's must-see destinations and has welcomed almost one million visitors in just a few short years. Our elegant, rehabilitated building continues to be recognized as an icon of San Francisco's Victorian past and has garnered countless awards for historical preservation. We are a favorite with local lovers of flora as well. Dazzled by the beauty of our lush tropical plant collection, our audiences invariably come away with a renewed appreciation for the wonders of the natural world. Our exciting program of floral displays and exhibitions helps us to reach new audiences. This year's popular Lunar New Year and Orchids of the Americas displays were testament to the universal appeal of our diverse collection. This coming year, we look forward to building on this success with a rare display of penjing, the Chinese precursor of bonsai, for the Lunar New Year. Our commitment to families is evident in our highly anticipated, family-friendly special exhibitions that have included "Chomp!", an exhibition of carnivorous plants that proved to be this summer's most fatal attraction, and last year's blockbuster "The Butterfly Zone" that introduced tens of thousands of visitors young and old to the fascinating relationship between plants and pollinators. Families are sure to enjoy the fun and whimsy of this season's "Color: A Winter Carnivale" as well. With so many reasons to return to the Conservatory, the new Jungle Pass has proven to be a popular value with local families, providing unlimited ‘free' admission for an entire year. Education is a priority at the Conservatory of Flowers, and we are extremely proud of our popular elementary school program that fills to capacity every year. The letters and drawings we receive from these students are evidence that a trip to our wonderful jungle can awaken curiosity about plants and care for the world's tropical ecosystems. A dedicated corps of volunteer Jungle Guides and Docents ensure that these children and all of our visitors have an informed and enjoyable visit to the Conservatory. We could not operate without these committed individuals and the many other volunteers that work behind the scenes with our horticulturists to care for our extraordinary collection. Of course, all of these programs as well as the ongoing maintenance of our beloved landmark building would not be possible without our community's support. It is individuals like you who make it possible for us to offer a rich variety of educational experiences and keep our admission costs low. I want to personally thank you for considering support of the Conservatory of Flowers. You can become a part of our success with a generous gift to our new Annual Fund, by including us in your estate planning or by making a commemorative gift. We look forward to working with you to ensure a greener future for the Conservatory and the world's tropics.
Sincerely, Fiscal Sponsor: San Francisco Parks Trust (Formerly Friends of Recreation & Parks).
